- What is price revision in construction?
- It is a contractual mechanism that adjusts the amount of a public works contract based on changes in economic indices (materials, labor, energy) between the base date and the statement date.
- Is price revision mandatory for public contracts in Morocco?
- Yes. Price revision of public contracts is governed by Order (Arrêté) No. 3-302-15 of the Head of Government dated 15 Safar 1437 (28 November 2015) setting the rules and conditions for price revision of public contracts (Official Bulletin No. 6422 of 17 December 2015), issued under Article 12 of Decree No. 2-12-349 on public procurement. It applies automatically to revisable-price contracts, without any specific request from the contractor and without an amendment.
- What is the form of the price revision formula?
- For services associated with global indices, the formula is: P = P₀ [k + a(I/I₀)], where k and a are invariable coefficients such that k + a = 1, with a fixed share k ≥ 0.15. P₀ is the initial tax-exclusive amount, I₀ the reference index value (month of the bid submission deadline or of the signature of a negotiated contract) and I the index of the month in which the revision becomes due. For multi-index formulas: P = P₀ [k + a(X/X₀) + b(Y/Y₀) + c(Z/Z₀)…].
- How many indices can a revision formula contain?
- The coefficients (k, a, b, c…) and the nature of the indices are set out in the common or special specifications (CPS). For contracts with an estimated amount of less than or equal to MAD 1,000,000, the formula must include no more than 5 indices.
- Is an amendment required to apply the price revision?
- No. The revision applies to executed services without any specific request from the contractor. The revised amounts are taken into account directly and do not require an amendment to the contract (Article 9 of Order No. 3-302-15).
- How are revision calculations rounded?
- The final result of the revision coefficient as well as the results of intermediate calculation ratios are set to the fourth decimal place (Article 8 of Order No. 3-302-15). When services span several months, the revision is apportioned according to each month's share, otherwise pro rata to the number of calendar days.
- What happens in case of delay attributable to the contractor?
- The revision coefficient applied to services executed between the contractual completion date and the actual completion date is the lower of the two coefficients obtained using, on the one hand, the indices of the month of execution and, on the other hand, the indices of the last month of the contractual period (Article 18 of Order No. 3-302-15).
- What is the BAT6 formula?
- The BAT6 formula is an official Moroccan index formula for buildings. It weights several indices (roadworks, engineering structures, buildings, etc.) according to the nature of the contract.

- Yes, once the price revision calculation is complete, you can download the detailed calculation note in Excel format for inclusion in your file.
